The Path to Becoming a Net Zero Motor Club

Our Vision of Sustainability and Community Engagement

Our Commitment to Net Zero

We are steadfast in our pursuit to become a net zero motor club. This commitment stems from our recognition of the urgent need to address climate change and align with the global transition to sustainability. To achieve this, we are dedicated to measuring and reducing our emissions comprehensively. Transparency will be central to our approach, enabling us to share evidence of our progress confidently with stakeholders and demonstrate our genuine efforts in combating environmental challenges.

Attracting New Members to a Sustainable Club

Our vision extends beyond environmental impact; we aspire to create an inclusive and dynamic community. By establishing ourselves as leaders in sustainability, we aim to draw a steady flow of new members who are passionate about motorsport and share our values. Our commitment to eco-friendly practices will be a distinguishing feature, making membership in our club a source of pride and mutual purpose.

Strengthening Local Connections

An integral part of our journey involves cultivating strong relationships with the local community. We envision a vibrant partnership where the community actively supports our events and engages with our mission. By prioritising accessibility and inclusivity, we aim to create opportunities for collaboration, allowing local residents to feel invested in our club's success and environmental stewardship.

Recognising Positive Environmental Impact

Our events will stand out for their positive environmental influence. We are committed to embedding sustainable practices into every aspect of event planning and execution, from energy-efficient operations to waste reduction strategies. Through careful management and innovative approaches, we will minimise complaints while maximising our contribution to environmental conservation. Our reputation will be built upon the tangible benefits our activities bring to both motorsport and the planet.

Setting the Standard in Sustainable Motorsport

We aspire to lead by example and establish a benchmark for sustainability in motorsport. This means pushing boundaries, innovating, and consistently improving our practices to inspire other clubs and organisations. By fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and showcasing the feasibility of sustainable motorsport, we will pave the way for broader industry transformation.

Conclusion

Achieving our goal of becoming a net zero motor club requires dedication, collaboration, and innovation. By aligning our environmental ambitions with community engagement and member inclusion, we aim to transform our club into a beacon of sustainability. As we continue on this journey, we look forward to sharing our progress and celebrating the milestones that will define our legacy in sustainable motorsport.

CO2 and Climate change

As part of our commitment to:
•    The protection of the environment
•    Reducing the detrimental impact of events on the environment
•    Improving the sustainability of motorsport in the UK

We donate a small environmental levy from our events to offset the CO2 produced by all competing vehicles, and that of the South Hams Motor Club organisers on the event. We invest this in a local tree planting scheme managed by local charity MOOR TREES to permanently offset the carbon produced and to achieve net-zero carbon for our events.
